Privacy Policy

Overview

This site — mybernatyarn.com — is a content and product recommendation website. We write about Bernat yarn, share useful information for knitters and crocheters, and link to products on Amazon. We are not affiliated with Bernat or Yarnspirations directly.

We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, how it gets used, and what choices you have. We’ve kept it plain — no legal jargon where plain English works just as well.

What We Collect

We collect two types of information: what you give us directly, and what gets collected automatically when you use the site.

Information you provide

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We don’t run a mailing list, ask you to create an account, or collect payment information of any kind.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we collect basic technical data when you visit — things like your browser type, operating system, which pages you looked at, how long you spent on them, and the general area you’re browsing from. This comes through analytics tools and is used in aggregate. We don’t tie it to any individual.

How We Use It

The information we collect is used to understand how the site is performing, which content is useful, and what needs improving. That’s it. We don’t sell data, we don’t rent it out, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising on our end.

If you email us, we use your contact details only to respond to you. We won’t add you to any list or pass your details on to anyone else.

Affiliate Links

This site participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. This means that when you click a product link and make a purchase on Amazon, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Our affiliate tag is bernatyarn-20. This is embedded in product links throughout the site. The price you pay on Amazon is exactly the same whether you arrive through our link or directly — we simply receive a small referral fee from Amazon for qualifying purchases.

We only link to products we’d genuinely recommend. Affiliate income helps keep the site running and free to use.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use them in a limited way.

Our analytics tools use cookies to track site usage in aggregate. These don’t identify you personally — they help us see things like which pages get the most visits or where people tend to leave. Amazon may also set cookies through affiliate links when you click through to their site. Amazon’s own privacy policy governs how those cookies work.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Doing so won’t stop you from using this site, though some functionality on third-party sites like Amazon may be affected.

Third Parties

We use a small number of third-party services to run this site. These may collect data according to their own privacy policies, which we don’t control.

Amazon Associates — product links on this site point to Amazon. When you visit Amazon, their privacy policy applies. Amazon may use cookies and tracking as described in their own documentation at amazon.com/privacy.

Analytics — we use analytics software to understand site traffic. Data collected is anonymised and aggregated. No personally identifiable information is passed to analytics providers through normal site usage.

We don’t embed social media tracking pixels or run third-party ad networks on this site.

Your Rights

Depending on where you’re based, you may have rights over your personal data — including the right to access it, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Since we collect very little personal information in the first place, most requests come down to email correspondence.

If you’ve emailed us and want us to delete that correspondence, just ask and we’ll do it. If you have any other data-related request, send it to us at [email protected] and we’ll respond promptly.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through our site, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to how we handle data, we’ll update this page and revise the date at the top. We won’t notify you individually, so it’s worth checking back if you’re a regular visitor and this matters to you.

Minor edits — fixing a typo, rewording something for clarity — won’t trigger a date change.
